Florence Louise Derby, 71, of Richland, died Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at University Hospital in Iowa City. She was born in Bowling Green, MO June 3, 1953, to Benjamin Frederick and Mary Martha “Sammie” Meyers Cottrell. She grew up in Bowling Green, MO and Keota, IA and graduated from Keota High School in 1971. Flo married Mitchell Accord and they later divorced. She married Marlin Derby in Washington, IA on August 16, 1988. Flo worked as a waitress for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Marlin, three children: Melissa Accord and Leslie Accord both of Cedar Rapids and Ryan Derby of North Liberty, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, three brothers: David “BO” Cottrell (Robin) of Keota, Ronnie Flansburg of Jefferson City, MO, Jim Cottrell (Karen) of Burlington, two sisters: Charlotte Pierce (Casey) of Deep River, IA and Tina Cottrell of Gladstone, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, three brothers: Ralph, Frank and Ray Cottrell and one sister, Carol Osborne.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 21, 2024, at Woolson Friends Church south of Richland with Pastor Jerry Hoover officiating and visitation at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, Sunday 2 to 4 P.M. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to Marlin Derby at 503 N Oak Street, Richland, IA 52585. Gould Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.
