Football: Late scores by English Valleys enough to take 27-13 win over W-MU
After a 76-yard run by Bobby Sarver in the second quarter, the W-MU football team took a 7-0 lead over English Valleys. The Wolves held the lead until late in the fourth quarter when English Valleys scored three straight touchdowns to take a 27-14 win over W-MU.
The Wolves led for the majority of the game. Sarver's run held even when EV scored in the third quarter because their extra point failed, securing a one-point edge for W-MU. They scored again in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 14-6 before EV had their 21-point fourth quarter.
Bobby Sarver made 19 rushing attempts for 148 yards, an average of 7.8 per carry. Jared and Jacob Tolander combined for 60 yards on the ground. Jared also returned three kickoffs for 55 yards, an average of 18.3 per chance.
Defensively the Wolves had three players (Anthony Escher, Bobby Sarver and Cory Reynolds) with double-digit tackles and had three players with tackles for losses and two with sacks. Phillip Crawford recorded two fumbles against English Valleys.
The Wolves are now 2-2 on the season and travel to Lone Tree this week.
