Frances Cowen May 3, 1915 - August 20, 2005

      Frances Cowen, 90, of Boone, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005.

      The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 in the Eastern Star Home chapel at 715 West Third Street in Boone. A private burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Memorial gifts may be sent to Rust College, Mississippi, 150 Rust Avenue, Holly Springs, MS 38635. It is the oldest African-American United Methodist College in the United States.

      Survivors include a brother, Merle of Boone; two daughters, Bette Clark of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Ann Armstrong of Bloomington, Ind.; a son, Jack of Bondurant; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Don; and sisters, Frieda Johnson and Ruby Rooks.
