Frances Elizabeth Taft

      Frances Elizabeth Taft, 88, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at the Laurie Missouri Care Center in Laurie, Mo.

      The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Beatty Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.

      Mrs. Taft was born July 4, 1912, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Elizabeth Heibner. She married Donald Taft on June 7, 1935, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1969. She was a Mt. Pleasant librarian for many years and enjoyed flower gardening.

      Survivors include two daughters, Donna and Stan Stookesberry of Granbury, Texas; Ann McHenry of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
