Frances M. Magdefrau
Frances Marie Magdefrau, 73, of Washington, died Saturday, Feb. 16, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, with the Rev. Harold Gruber officiating. Burial will be at Cottonwood Cemetery west of Wayland.
A memorial has been established for the Cottonwood Church.
She was born Jan. 22, 1935, in Keota, the daughter of Henry and Mazie Horning Manning. On June 11, 1954, she married Richard Magdefrau in Nashua.
A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, she worked part time at the Washington Journal.
She is survived by her widower; two sons, Richard Magdefrau and his friend Cyndie of Washington and Rick Magdefrau and his wife Tedra of Richland; her brother, Earl Manning and his wife Beaulah of Mt. Pleasant; five sisters, Lucille Hudson and her husband Jack of Hillsboro, Barbara Schenk and her husband Jim of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Ann Dupree of Mt. Pleasant, Charlene Ragan and her husband Ron of Oxnard, Calif., and Kay Carey and her husband Jim of Washington; her sister-in-law, Mary Manning of Mt. Pleasant; and two grandchildren.
Her parents, brother Jim and sister Darlene Magdefrau preceded her in death.
