Frank Edward 'Ed' Heitmeier

Frank Edward "Ed" Heitmeier, 43, of Mt. Union, formerly of Iowa City, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant following an extended illness with ALS Lou Gerig's Disease.

      The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, with the Rev. Leonard Schantz officiating. Burial will follow in Shinar Church Cemetery at Pleasant Grove. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Blake and Ross, both of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Janelle Heitmeier of Burlington; two stepsons, Anthony and Cody Green, both of Solon; and three sisters, Janice Voss of Iowa City, Jeanne Hartman of San Jose, Calif., and Nancy Kamenoff of Denver, Colo.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
