Born on Jan. 24, 1930, Francis (Frank) grew up on his parents' farm alongside his two brothers, John and Jim and two sisters, Mary Anna and Theresa. Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He was stationed at Fort McNair, Washington, D.C., and at Campbell Barracks, Heidelberg, Germany where he served with "some of the finest people he ever knew." After returning home, he began a 40-year career with Dexter Co. and bought a farm. Frank married Marcella (Sally) Elizabeth Bentler on Nov. 19, 1961. They were active members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield where Frank also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank retired from Dexter in 1995 but continued to farm with his son Joe. Frank enjoyed farming, drives in the country, and travel, an interest spawned by his many 48 hour leave trips while stationed in Germany. True to his nature he would say, "Life means work." Frank would also show in his actions and words that life means being kind to others and the importance of good penmanship.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers and his wife.
He is survived by his two sisters; son, Joe (Ronda); daughter, Jean (Milton Audas); son. Richard (Kari Myli); and two grandchildren, Nathan and Lauren Audas.
Due to safety concerns regarding COVID-19, the family will hold a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. Donations in Frank's memory may be made to the American Red Cross or VFW.
