Franklin C. Jewett

Franklin C. Jewett, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 4, at Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Chapel of Forest Home Cemetery with the Rev. Sue Cubbage officiating.

He was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Cecil and Bertha Fetrow Jewett. On Jan. 1, 1939, he married Geraldine Slusher in Memphis, Mo.

A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Mills Electric and farmed in Henry County. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Jewett and Fred Jewett and his wife Pam, all of Mt. Pleasant; his brother, Robert Jewett of Norwich, N.Y.; his sister, Elizabeth Kerr of Danville; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

His parents, wife, and daughter Janet preceded him in death.
