Franklin D. Hawkins

Franklin D. Hawkins, 57, of rural New London, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at the chapel with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established for H20, a Mt. Pleasant organization designed for helping people in need.

Survivors include his wife; his father of Keokuk; a son, Gary Hawkins of Nashville, Ill.; a daughter, Penny and her husband Chris Forster of Fruita, Colo.; two stepsons, John and his wife Lori Zachmeyer of Burlington and Tom Zachmeyer of Muscatine; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

      He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Larry Hawkins.
