Franklin LeRoy Bell
Franklin LeRoy Bell, 90, of Fairfield, died at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at the ParkView Care Center.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday, Nov. 10, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorials have been established to the children?s department of the Fairfield Public Library.
Mr. Bell was born Feb. 3, 1910, near Birmingham in Van Buren County, the son of Royal Franklin and Ella May Nichols Bell. He married Geneva Davison Nov. 21, 1928, at Fairfield. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps in the 1930s in Fairfield and Keosauqua. A lifetime resident of Jefferson County and Fairfield, he was a farmer, a trucker, a school bus driver, and a custodian for Louden Machinery Company and the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.
Survivors include his wife; nine children, Lois Sasseen of Fairfield, Keith Bell of Tallahassee, Fla., Raymond Bell of Canyonville, Ore., Glen Bell of Cullman, Ala., Shirley Luzadder of Lockridge, Frank Bell of Fairfield, Rodger Bell of Roseburg, Ore., Tom Bell of Palmyra, Mo. and Terry Bell of Maywood, Mo.; two brothers, Bob Bell of Odesa, Texas, and Troy Bell of Lake Havasue, Ariz.; three sisters, Marjorie Wilbur of Fort Smith, Ark., Betty Cottrell of St. Louis, Mo., and Minnie Thaeth of Grant?s Pass, Ore.; 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
