GAILEN LEO REIGHARD

Clever, Mo.

Gailen Leo Reighard, 94, of Clever, Mo., passed away at 1:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021. He was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Washington County, the son of Clarence and Blanch (Statler) Reighard.

Gailen owned and operated Reighard Appliance Sales and Service in Washington, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and antiquing. He annually traveled throughout the United States vacationing with his family. One of his favorite social activities was to gather with friends over coffee and discuss current events.

On Dec. 29, 1949, he married Betty Darlene Zickefoose of Brighton, Iowa. In 2000, they moved to Clever, Mo. to be closer to their children.

Gailen is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty; two sons, Ronald Reighard and wife, Diane, of Halltown, Mo., and Mike Reighard and wife, Neda, of Clever, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Angela Reighard of Ames, Iowa, Leandra Reighard of Ebenezer, Mo., Christopher Reighard of Washington, Iowa, Shannon Jones and her husband, Alan, and Nathan Reighard and his wife, Jessica, all of Clever, Mo., Adam Reighard and his wife, Noelle, of Springdale, Ark., and Jesse Reighard and his wife, Angela, of Detroit, Mich.; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Reighard and Roger Reighard, both of Washington County, Iowa; one sister, Iva Burkett of Iowa City, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Gailen was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randall Reighard and his wife, Cynthia; two brothers, Allen and Carrol Reighard; and one sister, Joyce Chance.

A graveside service will be held was held Aug. 25 at the Frazier Cemetery, southeast of Clever, Mo. A future memorial service will be held at the Church of God, Brighton, Iowa, schedule TBA. Donations can be sent to the Church of God, Brighton, Iowa.
