Garry Alfred Underwood

Garry Alfred Underwood, 63, of Fort Madison, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, with the Rev. Mark Binder officiating. Burial will be at Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

A memorial has been established.

Mr. Underwood was born May 27, 1948, in Burlington, the son of Otis and Helen Miller Underwood. He married Linda Hays Feb. 24, 1990.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters: Tammy Anderson and husband Andy of Des Moines, Robin Whitaker and husband David of Fort Madison, Nicole Lampe and husband Joey of Fort Madison, Heather Gosnell and husband Derek of Fort Madison and Hattie Kemp and husband Will of Fort Madison; one son: Adam Hayes of Fort Madison; five sisters: Loretta Bliss of Burlington, Sandy Parton of Burlington, Martha Morris of Burlington, Ruth Fisher of New London and Ramona Underwood of Bloomfield; two brothers: George Underwood of Fort Madison and Pete Underwood of Cedar Rapids; and 15 grandchildren.
