Garry D. Havel

ALTOONA ? Garry D. Havel, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, in Altoona.

No visitation or services are planned. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place, and his cremated remains will be scattered. Hamilton?s Funeral Home in Altoona is handling arrangements.

Mr. Havel was born June 2, 1939, in Henry County, the son of Claude and Viola (Sammons) Havel. He married Kathryn Cranmer on Jan. 9, 1965, in California.

He worked for several years at Townsend Plastics in Des Moines.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy; two children, Cindy Metge and husband Jeff, and Todd Havel and wife Traci; four grandchildren; and two siblings, Dick Havel and wife Sandy, and Jim Havel and wife Linda.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Claude Havel.
