Gary Douglas "Doug" DeWolf, 58, of Washington, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at the Washington County Hospital. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Doug will be cremated following visitation and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to any of the following organizations: First Baptist Church of Washington, WCDC or Camp Reece.
Gary Douglas DeWolf was born April 25, 1962, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Gary E. and Helen E. (Rich) DeWolf. He graduated from Washington High School. Throughout his adult life, he worked at Pizza Hut, the United Presbyterian Home, the Riverside Casino and WCDC. Doug was a member of the First Baptist Church of Washington and enjoyed working, being with people, swimming, music, dancing, old movies and attending camps in the summer. He participated in the Special Olympics in swimming events. Doug loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Helen DeWolf of Washington; paternal grandmother, Stella Rich of Washington; two brothers, Mark (Donna) DeWolf and Brett (Sherise) DeWolf, both of Washington; five nephews, Adam (Lindsey) DeWolf, Ryan DeWolf, Bryce DeWolf, Jaden (Paige) Chalupa and Justyn Chalupa; one niece, Abbi DeWolf; and two great-nieces, Juniper and Magnolia Chalupa.
Preceding Doug in death were his paternal grandparents, Harold and Vera DeWolf; and maternal grandfather, Evertt Rich.
