Gary Rex Huston, 76, of Winfield passed away, Friday, May 10, 2019, at West Ridge Specialty Care, Knoxville, of brain cancer. Gary was born October 30, 1942, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Harold and Helen (See) Huston.

Gary was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam. Gary lived in Winfield for the majority of his life and had been attending the Open Bible church with his daughter Jill Woodsmall and grandkids. He was also a member of the American Legion, Winfield; First Presbyterian Church, Winfield, where he served as an elder; and the Winfield Historical Society, where he served as a board member. He enjoyed working on his classic cars, woodworking, and welding. He enjoyed learning about history, especially planes and ships. He retired from Wal-Mart as a truck driver.

Those left to honor his memory include his three children; Shayne (Diane) Huston; Jill (Nathan) Woodsmall; James (Sherry) Huston; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, with three more on the way; his brothers Mahlon Huston; Melvin (Kathy) Huston; and Kirk (Michelle) Huston; 6 nephews and nieces; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Winfield Community Veterans Building, Winfield, Iowa at 3:00PM. Pastor Smale will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Dr. James Huston, with Military service following. Visitation will be before the service at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Iowa Donor Network.

Additionally, in honor of Gary's military service, there will be a Memorial motorcycle ride at 12:45PM, leaving from the Winfield Community Veterans Building and traveling to the freedom rock in Grandview, IA. The ride will return through Wyman, Iowa, Gary's childhood home.
