CEDAR RAPIDS ? Gary Lee McClure, 62, of Cedar Rapids died Monday, June 5, 2017, after a courageous 11-year fight against cancer.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Monday, June 12, at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with visitation two hours prior to service. Memorials may be directed to Camp Wakonda Boy Scout Camp in Central City in his memory. Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids is handling arrangements.
Mr. McClure was born Feb. 4, 1955, in Washington. He married Linda Bierman on Sept. 20, 1975, in Dyersville.
He worked at Hy-Vee for 39 years, where he retired as a store director in 2010. One of his favorite things to do was plan vacations and travel with his family. He traveled all over the United States and the world. His favorite place to visit was the Big Island of Hawaii, which was like a second home. He was an Eagle Scout and was very generous with his time and energy to the Boy Scouts. He was known as a selfless man, devoted husband, and loving father and papa. He enjoyed time with his family, fishing, golfing, biking, being outdoors, and cooking.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Linda McClure; three children, Jennifer Sanders and husband Marshall, Brian McClure and wife Stephanie, and Jeff McClure and wife Trisha; six grandchildren; his parents, Patricia and Marvin McClure of Washington; and three younger sisters, Sue Norman and husband Steve, Jane Janecek and husband Ron, and Judy Wery and husband Alan.
