Gary Neil Marston, 80, of West Burlington, Iowa, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at his home.

Born March 22, 1940, in Washington, Iowa, he was the son of Ivan Neil and Della Greta (Ramsey) Marston. He married Linda Klopfenstein on June 9, 1973, at Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington. Gary worked as a lab technician for Campbell Chain for 12 years and then for Exide for 29½ years until they closed. He was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church.

Gary was very active in city bowling leagues and traveled in many tournaments. He loved doing yard work, beginning with mowing lawns at 12 years old. He was an Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports.

Gary was a lover of all pets and was known to spoil his dogs, sometimes more than his own children. His family was of the utmost importance and focus to him and he looked forward to picking up his granddaughters from school every day.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Marston of West Burlington; two children, Amy (Nile) Hayes and Brian (Briana) Marston, both of West Burlington; and grandchildren, Chloe Grace Hayes, Bailey Lynn Hayes, Kinzie Marston and Maddux Marston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no formal funeral services for Mr. Marston. According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
