Gary N. Davis, 77, of Washington, Iowa, formerly
of Olds, Iowa, died Saturday, December 4, 2021, following a lengthy illness.
General calling hours will begin noon Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 4 until
6 p.m. Tuesday. Private family graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 8th, at the West Chester Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for Gary's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Gary was born June 21, 1944, in Montezuma, Iowa, the son of Clifford and Nina ( McMains) Davis. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School. On September 12, 1964, he was united to Dorothy Lampe at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellman, Iowa.
Gary and Dorothy lived in Olds, Iowa, from 1965 until 2004 when they moved to Washington, Iowa. Gary worked at Blue Bird Mfg. in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, for 39 years where he was a Supervisor. He enjoyed fishing with his friends and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Gary's focus was always on his family and he enjoyed attending his children's, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's many activities.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Davis of Washington, Iowa; son, Monte Davis and Jodie Milks of Washington, Iowa; son, Tim Davis and Rachel of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter Kathy Shelman and Brian of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; daughter, Amy Drey and Charlie of Arlington, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Justin (Alisha) Davis, Zach (Shelby) Davis, Lindsey Davis and fiancé Travis Tedrow, Hannah Davis, Grace Davis, Bryce (Abbey) Shelman, Brant Shelman, Brianna Shelman, Mitchell (Emily ) Drey and Weston Drey; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Lyle Davis; and one sister, Erma Schimmelpfenning and her husband, Leonard.
