Gary Wayne Simpson, 89, of Fairfield, died May 6, 2020, at Fairfield Emergency Room in Fairfield. He was born

Nov. 5, 1930, in Ottumwa, to Ronald and Claudine (McCordell) Simpson. He married Maxine Mae

Carriker on Jan. 26, 1978,

and she died Oct. 18, 2002.

Graveside Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 11, at Evergreen Cemetery with words of comfort by family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW with cards and memorials mailed to Max Simpson, 429 N. Pocahontas St., Ottumwa, IA 52501.

Gary was an avid pool player, golfer and hunter. He worked for Morrell, Hormel and Cargill until his retirement. He belonged to the Eagles Club and V.F.W.

Gary is survived one daughter, Debra Morris; two sons, Kevin and Max; three stepchildren, Christine, Monte and Rusty; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Claudine Simpson; brother, Dave; and sister, Bonny; two wives, Eva Jean and Maxine.
