Gary Lavern Winn, 64, of Ollie, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at his home in Ollie.

He was born Jan. 16, 1955, in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Don and Audrey (Mason) Winn. He attended Ollie Community schools. Gary worked at Dickeys Trucking in Packwood as a diesel mechanic for most of his career. He enjoyed morel mushroom hunting and delighted in finding the first mushrooms of spring. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to cook in his cast iron skillet over an open campfire.

Gary is survived by a brother, Garth Winn of Yuma and Prescott, Ariz.; a sister, Shirley Winn Howes of Ankeny and Yuma; an aunt, Cleta Mason Spencer; and several close cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Audrey; and his grandparents, Ed and Olive Winn and Charles and Margaret Mason

As was his wish, Gary's body has been cremated and there are no services planned at this time. Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
