Gaye Eileen Morton Wulff
Gaye Eileen Morton Wulff
Phoenix, Ariz.
Gaye Eileen Morton Wulff passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, May 29, 2023, at her home in Phoenix, Arizona. Per Gaye's wishes there will be no service and she actually wanted no obituary to be written at all. She has been cremated and wants her ashes to join Bill’s in the Sea of Cortés out in front of their beach house.
Gaye was the Wulff Pack Den Mother. Gaye was born August 29, 1933, in Rantoul, Illinois, and was the only child of Dorothy M. and Howard L. Morton. She attended the University of Iowa, was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and this is where she met William (Bill) Wulff, her future husband. They were married in Rantoul, Illinois, on June 26, 1954. They settled in Fairfield and joined Bill’s parents, Dorothy and Ferd Wulff, at Wulff's Furniture. They raised 4 children in their beloved Fairfield. Bill and Gaye sold the business in 1978 and moved to Phoenix in 1980 to retire. Bill remained retired for 2 seconds. Bill, with Gaye's raised eyebrow guidance, would go on to start three other family business ventures in Arizona. Bill and Gaye fell in love with Puerto Penasco, Mexico after moving to Arizona. And in the mid-’90s, they built a second home in Puerto Penasco. They would spend much of the coming years at their beach home. Bill passed away in 2013. They were married 59 years. In May, Gaye was still feisty enough to travel to Oregon to see one of her granddaughters married. And Gaye had actually just returned from Mexico the day before she passed, seeing many beach friends for the last time. Bill and Gaye are survived by four children, Richard (Tequisquiapan, Mexico), Robert (Scottsdale), John (Phoenix), and Susan (Phoenix); and nine grandchildren.
