Gayle Rarick
Funeral services for Gayle Rarick of Corwith formerly of Washington will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with Pastor Maureen Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. There will be a visitation on Wednesday at the church from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Gayle Ellen Rarick was born August 18, 1925, in Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of William and Louise (Ossman) Blum. She attended country school in Pilotburg and then went onto attend Wellman High School, graduating in 1944. Gayle took normal training and then taught school for two years. On September 1, 1946, Gayle was united in marriage to William Rarick in Wellman, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Hills for a short time before moving to Ainsworth. Gayle owned and operated an upholstery business where she upholstered furniture for nearly 30 years. After her husband died she later moved to Washington for a few years before moving to Corwith to be near her daughter. Gayle enjoyed her family, especially following her grandchildren in all of their school activities. Her church family was also very important to her. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, going on walks watching games shows on tv and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. Gayle died Friday, September 28, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City. She was 93. She is survived by her children, Dave Rarick of Ainsworth; Diana and Mike Pearson of Corwith; Duane and Dena Rarick of Ainsworth; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Jim Blum of Anamosa; Mae Martin of Columbus Junction; Jeannette Sexton of Riverside and many nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; three brothers, Clarence, Donald and Marion Blum and two sisters, Viola Sexton and Lillian Graf.
