George B. Coleman
George B. Coleman, 89, of Farmington, died Monday, Oct. 8, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory in Farmington, where the family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington with Rev. Larry Wallingford officiating. Full military rites will be provided by the Farmington American Legion.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Born Sept. 9, 1918 near West Point, he was the son of George B. and Gladys McCollum Coleman, Sr. On Nov. 2, 1947, he married Ethel May Turner in Keosauqua.
George was veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed mowing yards and working on the farm.
He is survived by three sons, David Coleman and his wife Joanne of Venice, Fla., Dennis Coleman and his wife Sally of Belle Plaine, and Don Coleman of Farmington; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents, wife and two sisters have preceded him in death.
