George Coles

COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? George Ferris Coles, 80, of Grandview, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, in Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. A general memorial has been established at the funeral home.

Mr. Coles was born May 28, 1935, in Bedford, New York, the son of George Burling and Helen Louise (Ferris) Coles. He married Sandra Phillips on Sept. 22, 1981, in Mount Kisco, New York.

He served his country in the Air Force. He worked on the Mars Radio system, AEA9 in Bettendorf, fixed computers and repaired guns. He also enjoyed woodworking, watching movies, going for walks with his wife, going to Branson, Missouri, and most of all spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Coles of Grandview; one sister-in-law, Kathy Schweitzer and husband Ken of Grandview; six nieces; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters; aunts; uncles; and one nephew.
