GEORGE DAVIDSHOFER
Salem
George Davidshofer, 82, of Salem, Iowa, entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, in Coin, Iowa, following a courageous battle with cancer. He donated his body to the Carver College of Medicine for medical research.
A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at the Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Davidshofer family. Walker-Merrick-Billings Funeral Chapel in Clarinda, Iowa, assisted the family with the funeral arrangements.
George as born March 30, 1939, in Stockton, Minn., to Carmon and Evelyn (Marmsoler) Davidshofer. George married Susan Bambenek in 1959. The couple later divorced. In 1983, he married Pam M. Ball, with Pam passing away in 2008. In 2010, George married Pam L. Johnston.
George worked for GTE for many years. After retirement, he settled in Salem, Iowa. Since 1997, George was a jack-of-all-trades, working for FCOC, coordinating many building projects, while also taking care of daily maintenance tasks. He made many friends over a cup of coffee and enjoyed telling stories about his life and family. If there was a country band playing, he was probably on the dance floor, two-stepping or doing the waltz. During his life, George was a baseball and softball player, Golden Gloves boxer, bull rider, stock car racer, pilot and mentor to many. George trusted God's plan until the very end.
George is survived by his wife, Pam; sons, Jeff (Penny Mitchell) Davidshofer of Coin, Iowa, and Aaron (Karen) Davidshofer of New Market, Iowa; five grandchildren, Shaun Davidshofer of Coin, Iowa, Brandon Davidshofer of Bellevue, Neb., Ashley (Josh) Woods of New Market, Iowa, Haley Davidshofer of Katy, Texas, and Levi Davidshofer of Simpsonville, S.C.; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters and two brothers, Mary Lou Williams of Pryor, Okla., Carmen Fisher of Winona, Minn., John (Pat) Davidshofer, Columbus, Neb., Geraldine "Geri" Cole (David) of Pryor Okla., and Leslie "Butch" Davidshofer of Pickwick, Minn. Also left to cherish his memory are stepchildren, JR (Judy) Ball of Branson, Mo., Tina Ball of New London, Iowa, Terri (Jenny) Beatty of Harper, Iowa, and Cheyenne Davidshofer of West Point, Iowa; with 16-stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his FCOC family.
George was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pam; sister, Josephine "Pat" Mohan; and brother, Mark Davidshofer.
