George R. Swearingen

George R. Swearingen, 82, of Sigourney, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at his home.

      The funeral service was Feb. 7 at Sigourney United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Memorials can be made to Sigourney United Methodist Church. On-line condolences may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sue Marie Swearingen of Iowa City, and Barbara and her husband David Goodale of West Chester, Pa.; a son, George "Bob" Swearingen Jr. and his wife Gina of Sigourney; seven grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Hanson of Ventura, Calif.; and a brother, Donald Dean Swearingen of Waukee.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
