George Thomas Widmer

George Thomas Widmer, 66, of Washington, died Monday, March 14, 2011, in the VA Medical Center in Iowa City following a brief illness.

    A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, at the Church of Jesus Christ LDS in Washington with President Doug Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund for the NAMDRA Scholarship Fund has been established.

    Mr. Widmer was born Aug. 5, 1944, in Washington, the son of Jeanne and Glenn (Honsie) Widmer and Chester McChurch. He married Janice L. Sines on June 10, 1967, in Washington.
