George Von Holt

George Von Holt, 56, of rural Selma, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines following a heart attack.

      The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in the Iowaville Cemetery near Selma. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home.

      Mr. Von Holt was born June 18, 1944 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Ralph and Ines Von Holt. He married Judy Combites Havens Aug. 30, 1982, in Keosauqua. He lived several years in Keosauqua and the past 16 years near Selma. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was employed by Experian of Mt. Pleasant.

      Survivors include his wife, two stepsons, Owen Havens of Quincy, Ill. and John Havens of Smithfield, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Julie Birky of Wyaconda, Mo., and Sonia Havens of Shreveport, La.; a brother, Ralph Von Holt, Jr., of Arbela, Mo.; five step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
