George W. Martin March 16, 1919 - November 5, 2005

George William Martin, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the Revs. Jerry Kelly and Jay Canaday officiating. Burial will be Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be after noon today at the chapel with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to the donor's choice.

      Survivors include his wife; two sons, George Garrell and his wife Joyce Martin and William Keith and his wife Janet Martin, all of New London; two daughters, Rosalee and her husband Dean Cochran Thompson of Keota, and Janice Aileen and her husband Jay Canaday of Thornville, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Merlin; and a sister, Mildred.
