Gerald 'Ike' L. Simpson December 3, 1935 - March 13, 2004

Gerald "Ike" Lee Simpson, 68, of Abingdon, Ill., died at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon, with Eleanor Landon officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 381. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16 at the chapel, followed by a Masonic service at 7 p.m. A memorial has been established to the American Lung Association.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Donna and her husband Jim Huffaker of Mt. Pleasant; four sisters, Carmen Thrasher, Carol and her husband Robert Lewis, Cleta Boydstun and Joyce and her husband Bob Fishel, all of Abingdon; four brothers, Terry and his wife Jan Simpson and Ed and his wife Marsha Simpson of Abingdon, Gene and his wife Viola Simpson of Oquawka, Ill., and Bill Simpson of Vancouver, Wash.; and three step-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandson.

      In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roger Simpson, and a sister, Waneta Quinn.
