DURANT ? Geraldine ?Jeri? Elizabeth Hubler, 77, of Durant, formerly of Dysart, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in Wilton Retirement Community in Wilton after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 28, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Wilton. Mass of the Christian burial will follow the visitation, Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Durant Cemetery in Durant. Memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice. Bentley Funeral Homes Inc. in Durant is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hubler was born Oct. 27, 1938, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Peck) Ledger. She married Gary D. Hubler on Dec. 27, 1960, in East Pleasant Plain.
She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1956. She worked as a receptionist for several medical offices in the Dysart, Traer and Waterloo areas. Most of all, she loved children and providing in-home day care in both Dysart and Durant. She was a woman of great faith and was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Wilton, and a former member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dysart. She enjoyed playing bridge, flower gardening, and cooking for her family and friends. Her greatest joy was having the entire family around her table to share a lovingly prepared meal ? a tradition that continues with her children. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with them.
Surviving are her husband, Gary, of Durant; one daughter, Kathy Keese and husband Phil of Durant; two sons, Britt Hubler and wife Jodi of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Chris Hubler and wife Jenny of Newtown, Pennsylvania; seven grandsons; two great-grandsons; one sister, Clarabell Vittetoe and husband Bill of Washington; and two brothers, Jim Ledger and wife Margaret of Washington, and Virgil Ledger and wife Jan of East Pleasant Plain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Maxine Hahn, and Dolores Sieren; and four brothers, Lester, Donald, Elmer, and Ernie Ledger.
