Glen H. Lochhead
Glen Hugh Lochhead, 81, of Kirksville, Mo., died Sunday, March 9, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, Mo. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 14, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Mo.
Memorials have been established for the Unionville Cemetery or the American Diabetes Association.
He was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Lee County near Keokuk, the son of Hugh and Lucile Kennedy Lochhead. On Aug. 12, 1953, he married Mary Easterday in Mt. Pleasant. She preceded him in death; on May 25, 1986, he married Twila Miller in Brashear, Mo.
A graduate of Argyle High School, he served in the U.S. Army before attending and graduating Iowa Wesleyan College, and becoming a preacher. He later graduated from seminary at Garrett Biblical Institute, Evanston, Ill., and was ordained into full ministerial membership in the Methodist Church. He received a Master of Theology in Church and Community from the Missouri School of Religion in Columbia, Mo., and took further studies at Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colo., and at Truman State University in Kirksville.
He served as a pastor for several churches and county parishes, and was involved in the volunteer prison chaplaincy. He was active in campus ministry and was a member of the United Methodist Rural Fellowship as well as the American Legion, serving as both Commander of Post 20 in Kirksville and Chaplain of the NE Missouri District. He regularly attended Rotary and Lions clubs.
He is survived by his wife, Twila; two sons, Mark Lochhead and his wife Beverly of Knoxville, Tenn., and David Lochhead and his wife Joyce of St. Joseph, Mo.; three daughters, Joyce McCormack and her husband Larry of Unionville, Mo., Judi Tipton and her husband Eddy of Lucerne, Mo., and Jan Altiser and her husband Marty of Newtown, Mo.; nine stepchildren, Ronald Miller and his wife Robin of Arbela, Mo., Joseph Miller and his wife Kathy of Arbela, Mo., Warren Miller and his wife Patricia of Arbela, Mo., John Miller and his wife Laura of Indianola, Walter Miller and his wife Valerie of Lafayette, Ill., Merrie Miller and her husband Dwayne Helton of House Springs, Mo., Celeste Miller-Parish of Arbela, Mo., Melody C. Hilsenbeck and her husband Shane of Joplin, Mo., and Karen Estep and her husband James of Lincoln, Ill.; seven grandchildren, 22 step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren.
