The son of Clarence Charles and Alice (Wieneke) Lowe, Glen was born Sept. 8, 1929, in rural Brighton at the family home. He attended rural school and graduated from Brighton High School in 1947 and started farming full time.
Glen joined the U.S. Army and served from 1951 to 1953. He served as a mechanic and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal with two Overseas Bars. After completing service, he returned to farming in Brighton.
On Oct. 3, 1953, Glen married Francine Morgan in Brighton. The couple had 5 children: Lindy, Donald, Pamela, Margie and Mary. Glen and Francine farmed and lived on the Lowe family homestead until Francine's passing on April 2, 1991. Glen later moved to town and made his home in Brighton.
Glen was an avid woodworker and made many gifts for his children and grandchildren with Francine painting the projects. He also created scale models of tractors out of wood which had tiny and intricate details all made by hand. He enjoyed fishing and caught some legendary sized catfish and flatheads out of the Skunk River off the banks of the farm. He loved mushroom hunting, collecting arrowheads, playing cards, baking pies, tinkering on the old AC tractor, and visiting with his many friends and family.
Glen is survived by his daughter, Margie (Bill) Derby; daughter-in-law, Mary Lowe; son-in-law, Wilbur Glatch; 13 grandchildren, Melinda (Albert) Pollmeier, Jessica (Erik) Lowe Vokes, Stacie (Catherine) Lowe, Zachary Lowe, Alisha (Julie) Sterkel, Josh (Lisa) Jarrard, Kyle (Alicia) Jarrard, Muffy (Shawn) Starr-Pilcher, Felicia Starr, Kevin Starr, Jesse (Taylor Kay) Starr, Katy Starr and Nathan Lowe; one brother, Charlie (Wanda) Lowe; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Francine; son, Donnie Lowe; daughters, Lindy Glatch, Mary Jarrard and Pam Lowe; siblings, Jake Lowe, Duane Lowe, Roy Lowe, Ruth Arbogast, Sarah Morgan and Merna Derby; and two grandchildren.
