Glenn Howard Talbott
Glenn Howard Talbott, 82, of Mallard Pointe in Cedar Falls and formerly of Rome, died at home Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 of natural causes.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Garden View Chapel in Waterloo. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball in Waterloo and from 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, until the time of the service at Garden View Chapel. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo with full graveside military rites by American Legion Post #138 and VFW Post #1623. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mr. Talbott was born June 12, 1918 in Mediapolis, the son of Glenn Earl and Winnifred Young Talbott. He married Evelyn R. Christner on Oct. 12, 1946, in Minnesota. He worked at John Deere for 37 years, retiring in 1977. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the European theater during World War II. He served on the Rome City Council for 15 years where a park bearing his name is being built in his honor.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Luther Talbott of Mt. Pleasant and Lee Talbott of Oskaloosa; two daughters, Wanda Wood and Sharon Ferch, both of Waterloo; a brother, Leo Talbott of Mt. Union; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy McMartin, and a great-grandson.
