Gwendolyn Miriam Gipple February 6, 1923 - July 5, 2003

      Gwendolyn Miriam "Gwen" Gipple, 80, of Washington, died on Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

      The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Ron McMenamin officiating. A private family burial will be at a later date. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 at the funeral home, with family present from 4 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Washington County Humane Society.

      Survivors include three daughters, Joy Clark and Mary Colthurst, both of Columbus Junction, and Rita Chapin of Cameron, Ill.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson and one brother, George Sheldon of Bella Vista, Ark.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
