H. Lloyd Blackmon, 66, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, in Mount Pleasant. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Wellspring Evangelical Free Church, 2501 S. Grand Ave., Mount Pleasant. The Rev. Tye Male will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mount Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Standard COVID-19 protocol is asked to be followed. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Kimzey Funeral Home Facebook page. Hunter Lloyd Blackmon was born July 31, 1954, in Jackson, Miss., the son of Wilmer Lloyd and Eva Nell (Harper) Blackmon. He graduated from Winfield High School in Jackson in 1972 and the University of Mississippi in 1976. On July 16, 1977, Lloyd married Charlene Elizabeth Kuespert.
Lloyd made his career in the U,S, Army, first in Armor and later in Ordinance. He retired with the rank of Major. After his army career, Lloyd worked in Human Resource Management for various companies.
Lloyd was a member of Wellspring Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed ice fishing, golfing and hunting. He loved to read and was a history buff. He loved to talk about tanks with Dr. Kent Metcalf. Lloyd very much enjoyed Friday breakfast with his breakfast buddy, Harold Collett.
Those thankful for sharing in Lloyd's life include his wife, Charlene; three sons, Christopher Blackmon of Luxembourg, Thomas (Jen) Blackmon of Green Cove Springs, Fla., and Michael (Min) Blackmon of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Candy Prentice of Jackson, Miss.; and two grandsons, David and John Blackmon.
His parents preceded in death.
