New Port Richey, Fla.
Harlan James Palmer, 67, of New Port Richey, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, in Florida.
A graveside service and interment with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Fulton Cemetery in Cairo, Iowa, with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa.
A general memorial has been established.

Harlan was born Aug. 1, 1952, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Edward E. and Margaret (Evans) Palmer. He graduated from Wapello High School in 1971. After 20 years of honorable service, Harlan retired from the U.S. Army. Harlan worked at Kalona Plastics in Kalona, Iowa, and later worked twelve years at the Riverside Casino as a security officer until his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter, Sue Jin Palmer; son, Jay Edward Palmer; and granddaughter, Aubrey Palmer, all of Columbus, Ga.; six brothers, Faylon, Gary, Francis, Robert, Maynard and Karl Palmer; five sisters, Loretta Andrews, Jean Johnson, Juanita Carlson, Dale Steward and Nadine Walker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gladys Beenblossom, Clair Palmer and Dewayne Palmer.
