Harold N. Schmitt

LONE TREE - Harold N. Schmitt, 89, of Nichols, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, in his home in Nichols due to a house fire.

      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 in the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery. Following services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the United Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Nichols or Lone Tree fire departments.

      Mr. Schmitt was born May 24, 1919, in Muscatine County, the son of Nicholas and Pauline (Hunt) Schmitt. He married Ruby Jehle on Oct. 24, 1948 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine.
