Harold R. Richards March 31, 1915 - April 10, 2004

Harold R. Richards, 88, of Ottumwa, died on April 10, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

      The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa with members of the VFW officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with graveside military services by the VFW post 775 and the O.B. Nelson Post #3 of the American Legion. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, April 13 at the funeral chapel, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Cremation will follow visitation.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald R. Richards of Ottumwa; four daughters, Linda Mortland and Debbie VanderSnick, both of Mt. Pleasant, Marilyn Richards of Ottumwa; and a step-daughter, Mary Margaret Schaub of Ottumwa; a brother, Earl Richards of Ottumwa; a sister, Pauline Dunning of Ottumwa; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert H. Richards; a great-grandchild; a brother, Paul Richards; and four sisters, Marie Stevens, Elsie McDowell, Maxine Grear and Irene Carmen.
