Harold S. Derby August 11, 1921 - March 11, 2004

Harold S. Derby, 82, of Brighton died at the Washington Care Center in Washington on Thursday, March 11, 2004 after being in failing health the past several years.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 15, at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton. Family visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 14 at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Brighton Volunteer First Responders and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 294, Brighton, IA 52540.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, William and his wife Margie Derby of Brighton and Ronald and his wife Deb Derby of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Jan and her husband Shennie Buck of Ainsworth; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother Lloyd and his wife Ardith Derby of Davenport.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pansy Gillis and Pearl Moody; and four brothers, Bacil, Elmer, Henry and Ralph Derby.
