Harit was a deeply spiritual person, devoted to meditation, astrology and the Vedic way of life. She had many phases in life: raised in a traditional Jewish family in Brooklyn, she became a Beatnik in the West Village in the early 60s, then a hippie, then a follower of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and a teacher of transcendental meditation. That’s when she met her husband, Warren, who she was married to for 45 nourishing years. She graduated from Maharishi International University with a masters degree in Vedic Science. She loved visiting her extended spiritual family in India. Harit was always a cosmic being, living life with a calm and peace that so many people spend their whole lives searching for.
Most of all she was devoted to her family, as a wife and best friend, Mom to two children, Ari and Ali, mother-in-law to Meredith and Kahreen, and two grandchildren, Nora and Tessa, ages 8 and 5. She loved being a “Gigi” - taking them to the salon and Target, making Jello and playing spa, designing homemade photo books for all of their birthdays and special occasions. They had so many adventures together, especially in their adopted second homeland of the beautiful people and water of Turks & Caicos.
“We’ll remember her by doing the things she loved,” Nora said when she passed. May her memory be a blessing.
