HARRIETT SUSAN SPARKS MELVIN TOBIN
Lexington, Ky.
Harriett Susan Sparks Melvin Tobin, 71, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She loved to be with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was an amazing artist. Her favorite pastime was painting, entertaining for family and friends and baking. At one time, she owned her own successful catering business, Sugar & Spice, in Mount Sterling, Ky. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Ky.
She leaves behind two children: a son, Charles (Jenny) Melvin of Libertyville, Iowa, and a daughter, Tricia Melvin of Lexington, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Caleb (Kristie) Lawson, Tyler Lawson, Mitchel Melvin, Jaden Lawson, Matthew Melvin, Maxwell Melvin and Makenzie Melvin; two great-grandchilden, Isabelle Lawson and Lucius Lawson; one brother, Oakie (Carol) Sparks of Emma, Ky.; two sisters, Mary (Burl) Click of Prestonsburg, Ky., and Dinah VanHoose of Emma, Ky; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles David Melvin; three brothers, McKinley Sparks Jr., Willis Sparks and Harry Thomas Sparks and two sisters, Peggy Branham and Pauline Wells.
A private family service and burial will be held. A public celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date, due to current restrictions.
