Hazel Elizabeth Kaufman

      Hazel Elizabeth Kaufman, 97, of Wayland, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington following a short illness.

      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Sue Meade officiating. Burial will be in the North Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Parkview Home in Wayland.

      Mrs. Kaufman was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Washington County, the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Smidth) Conrad. She married Andy Kaufman on June 9, 1928, in Ottumwa.
