Hazel L. Corey

      Hazel L. Corey, 98, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Washington County Hospital following a short illness.

      A Celebration of Life service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

      Open visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

      Memorials have been established to United Methodist Church in Washington or Halcyon House.

      Mrs. Corey was born March 2, 1909, in rural Morning Sun, the daughter of John August and Ora Emily Walker Venghaus. She married Elwyn Wesley Corey Aug. 13, 1930, at her parents' home in Mount Union. He died in 1984.
