Helen Gohn, 92, of Fairfield, was called home Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at her granddaughter Myra's house in Keota. Open visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Behner Funeral Home. Following the visitation, she will be cremated. Graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Union Cemetery, Fairfield, with Pastor John Kermott officiating. To get to Union Cemetery, you will take Hwy 34 East, turn right on Spruce Avenue, turn left on 220th Street and Union Cemetery will be on the left.

A memorial has been established and can be mailed to Myra Williams, 201 S. Fulton, Keota, IA 52248.

Helen worked at Iowa Ordinance Plant, Fairfield Public Schools, Emmetsburg Nursing Home and was a house wife. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, First Baptist Church Circle, cooking club and book club. She enjoyed crafts and was an excellent cook and baker. Helen enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends and family. She was a super sweet, loveable, amazing woman who will be dearly missed.

Helen was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Fairfield, to Ernest Edward and Beatrice Aretta (Winter) Crawford. She married Oliver Spencer Gohn Jr. on Aug. 31, 1946, at the Baptist parsonage in Fairfield. They were married 73 years before Oliver passed away last month on July 19, 2020.

Helen will be missed by her two children, Terri Rivera of Greenwood, Ind., and Randy Gohn of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Jason Degen, Myra (Justin) Williams, Melissa (Norm) Curtis, Justin Degen, Marica Degen, Maria Rivera, Jose Rivera and Jesus Rivera; and 13 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Gavin, Zoey, Gracie, Myla, Landen, Abigail, Jalyn, Oliver, Lola, Armando, Nora and Myah; her siblings, Mary Knerr, Marjory Mangold and Tom Crawford; and two very dear special loved ones, Amy Scotton and KatieJo Scotton.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Beatrice; husband, Oliver Gohn Jr.; and her siblings, Harold Edward, Eva Ree Tweedy, Virginia Letts, Alvena May Knerr, Betty Stiger, Shirley Knerr, John Crawford and Chris Barber.
