Helen 'Huey' Ensminger Eddy, 68, of Altus, Okla., died Friday, January 21, 2000.
The memorial service was at 2 p.m. Monday, January 24, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Clinton with the Rev. Dale Nease officiating. Burial was in Union Hatchet Cemetery at Bessie, under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Eddy was born September 19, 1931, on a farm west of Bessie, Okla., the daughter of Dike and Mary Huey. She married Kenneth Ensminger on March 15, 1950, in Hobart. At a young age, her family moved to Cordell, and in 1940 moved again to the Burn Flat community, where she graduated from high school in 1949. She served on the nursing staff at Elkview Hospital in Hobart after graduation. After getting married, she and her husband moved to Rome, where they operated a trucking-freight business. Soon after, they established Ensminger Motor Lines, Inc., based in Frankfurt, Ill. They sold their trucking-freight business in 1979, and then estalished KHE Limited Leasing Company in Mt. Pleasant. Following her husband's death in July 1985, she continued operation of the business until September of 1985, when she moved back to Clinton, Okla. In 1988, she married Duane Eddy, who predeceased her in December of 1999. She had recently moved to Altus to be near her family, where she lived at the Tamarack Retirement Center. She was an active member of the Clinton Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served in the Senior Citizens Program there. She and her second husband enjoyed traveling and bass fishing.
Survivors include two brothers, Ed Huey of Altus and Jim Huey of Shawnee, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Frances Huey of Ft. Madison; seven nieces and six nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, and an older brother, Kenneth Huey.
