Helen Irene Crow, 98, a resident of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Prestige Care Center in Fairfield.

Visitation with family and friends will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery in Richland, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice.

Irene was born April 5, 1925, in Pleasant Plain, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Mirthel (Gonder) Bjork. She married Adrian Crow, August 2, 1945. He preceded her in death July 27, 1990.

Irene worked at JC Penney but spent the majority of her working career as a cook at Pence Elementary and Fairfield Middle School, where she worked for 22 years. After retiring from the Fairfield School District, she served as a substitute cook for 10 years.

Irene enjoyed cooking and quilting, and she was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Nikki (Ed) Bruegge of Fairfield and Janice Spearman of New London; son, Ronald (Peg) Crow of Mayer, Arizona; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and special family friend, Danny Campbell

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Frances Stewart; brother, Russel Bjork.
