Helen Betty Lease, age 93, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 at the United Church of Crawfordsville with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday morning. Interment will take place at Crawfordsville Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the United Church of Crawfordsville, Camp Courageous and the Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County. Helen was born January 9, 1926 near North English, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Loretta Dale (Berstler) Morse. She attended rural school and graduated from Millersburg High School in 1943. She attended Nurses Training at the University of Iowa. Helen was united in marriage to Richard Lease on February 14, 1947 in North English, Iowa.
Helen had been a resident of Crawfordsville since her marriage. She worked at the Kenway Store in Crawfordsville for over 20 years. Helen was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville and the Church Women, having served on many committees. She and her husband were very active members of the American Legion and Auxiliary. Helen served on the Election Board for over 30 years, was a member of the Wednesday Study Club and former member of the Eastern Star, WWK Club and Republican Women.
She is survived by one daughter, Christine Stauffer and husband Rick of Mt. Pleasant, IA; four grandchildren: Doug Marsh and wife Crystal of Enumclaw, WA; Angel Marsh of North Liberty, IA; Arica Marsh of Port St. Lucie, FL; and Joshua Hesseltine and wife Brooke of Crawfordsville, IA; and ten great-grandchildren.
Helen was proceeded in death by her parents; husband in 2004; son, Timm in 1987; two brothers, Donald and Dean Morse; one sister, Harriet Morse Bell; and two sisters-in-law, Adria Berkshire and Eloise Morse.
