Helen M. Johnson

Helen M. Johnson, 73, of Brighton, formerly of Washington, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a lengthy illness.

      The funeral service was at 1 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Burial will be in West Chester Cemetery. A memorial has been established.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Kay Beal of Oklahoma City, Okla., Deette and her husband Darrell Beal of Brighton, and Nancy Tapley of Webster; four sons, Ernest and his wife Linda Johnson and Joe and his wife Jean Johnson, all of Washington, Jerry Johnson of Washington, and Jim and his wife Laurie Johnson of West Chester; three brothers, Dale and his wife Bonnie Buck of Ainsworth, Junior "Shennie" and his wife Janet Buck of Ainsworth, and Richard Buck of Washington; two sisters, Mary Lou and her husband Hank Edgar of Crawfordsville, and Katy and her husband Dan Keisey of Marion; and 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Maxine and Grace; and a brother, Francis Bernard James "Sonny," one grandson and one great-grandson.
