Helen Madelon Heckenberg
Helen Madelon Heckenberg, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 2 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Mapleleaf Health Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in Lambirth Cemetery on the County Line Road. Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Heckenberg was born November 1, 1914, in Sullivan County, Mo., the daughter of James B. and Stella F. Frazier Yardley. She married John H. Heckenberg on August 3, 1946, in Fairfield. She lived most of her life in Fairfield, managing two laundromats, Thrifty Wash and King Koin, and was a maid at the Dream Motel. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the retired postal workers auxillary.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Stewart of Mt. Pleasant and Ruth Eggleston of Stuarts Draft, Va.; five grandchildren; one sister, Adriene Doty of West Burlington; one brother, Don Yardley of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter Nancy Ann Heckenberg, one sister, Phyllis Keith, and two brothers, Troy Yardley and Jim Yardley.
